Statistical speech recognition modeling in which the system is trained to estimate the parameters (means and covariances) of a probabilistic model for each word. (ISO/IEC, JTC1/SC1, N1609, 1994).

OBS

To recognize an utterance, the system computes the likelihood that it was generated by each of the models derived during training. The utterance is recognized as the word whose model gives the highest likelihood score.
